The Challenge

The commercial busines park is located on the foreshore of Onetangi Beach, Waiheke Island. The park consists of several business’s made up of a café, restaurants, apartments and hotel accommodation. The Wastewater from these buildings is conveyed via either gravity, septic tanks or pump stations and terminates in the new communal Treatment Plant. The existing SBR Wastewater Treatment Plant was built early 2000 and was no longer meeting consent conditions. It had become a hazard due to hydrogen sulfide attack and continuous failing pumps and aerators. Maintenance was required on a daily basis, It had reached its useful life and needed to be replaced. In order for the communal plant to become compliant it would require full replacement. (Image of failing plant below) Wastewater Tank Case Study: Waiheke Business Zone 30mᵌ/day Stormwater Tank
