The Challenge
The Big4 Saltwater at Yamba Holiday Park had a waste water treatment system that was under performing and producing excessive odors. Whitehead & Associates investigations confirmed it was well undersized and lacked sufficient influent flow balancing to maintain effective treatment for the wastewater load expected during holiday seasons, preventing development expansion plans. Due to it’s popular location, Big4 Saltwater required a reliable treatment system that would allow expansion of the park, meet their Land Application Area release requirements and would also be low maintenance, without the need to constantly monitor. SOLUTION GRAF’s Wastewater Engineering team Klaro, specifically designed for this project a 600 EP Retro System to suit large insitu cast concrete tanks that are more suited for a process of this size. GRAF, in conjunction with Coffs Harbour Plumbing, provided and installed this new system which features; remote monitoring, PAC dosing for phosphorus removal, double disinfection incorporating both UV and chlorine dosing, and an intelligent microchip controller, enabling fine adjustments to the process, utilizing reliable and robust airlift transfer technology. The park is now able to safely execute an expansion without having to worry about an old and out of date waste water system. Case Study 600 EP CONCRETE RETROFIT SYSTEM YAMBA, AUSTRALIA
