Challenge
Privatklinik Laßnitzhöhe (neurological and orthopaedic rehabilitation, up to 227 patients) needed firefighting water as part of extension works completed September 2019. Original plans used concrete tanks over ten working days, with tight sequencing around live hospital operations.
Solution
PORR Bau GmbH installed four GRAF Carat XXL underground tanks (56,000 L each, 224,000 L total) with factory-fitted firefighting accessories. Excavation, set and gravel backfill took three days. Tanks were crane-placed onto straps and interconnected with factory-welded DN 250 sockets.
Outcomes
- 224,000 L fire storage from four linked Carat XXL tanks
- Three-day install versus ten days planned for concrete
- Prefitted firefighting intakes, ventilation and access hardware
